Lost Raven
AI & Our Creative Process
Lost Raven Records and Finale Radio were conceived as projects that explore how AI can expand the possibilities of creation and production. Across music, audiovisual storytelling, and related materials, we use AI as part of a human-directed creative process.
This statement shares the thinking behind that approach—and the boundaries we maintain between human authorship and AI-assisted or AI-generated production.
In this statement, “AI” refers specifically to generative AI technologies, including transformer-based models, rather than artificial intelligence technologies as a whole.
Human Authorship at the Core
The core melodies and the main body of our lyrics are written by human authors.
AI may help with local refinements, grammar corrections, or wording suggestions. It does not take over the writing of the core melodies or the main body of the lyrics.
Human authors decide which suggestions to accept, revise, or reject. The themes, emotions, and central expression of a song remain grounded in their creative choices.
AI in Performance and Production
Our use of AI extends beyond proofreading or minor edits.
Depending on the work, AI may be used in arranging music, generating or processing singing voices and instrumental performances, mixing, and other stages of audio production.
Human authorship of a song’s core melodies and lyrics does not mean that every sound in the finished recording comes from a human singer or a recorded live performance. We distinguish the authorship of a song from the methods used to bring it into its final recorded form.
Visuals and Related Materials
AI may also be used to generate images and video, develop visual assets, and assist with production documents, descriptive text, and translations.
The extent and nature of AI involvement vary from one work to another. This statement describes our overall approach; it does not mean that every work uses AI in every stage listed here.
Human Direction and Responsibility
AI-generated material does not automatically become part of a finished work. We decide what to select, revise, review, and release, and we take responsibility for the content we publish.
We use AI to expand what we can create and how we can produce it, while keeping human authorship at the core of our songs and being open about how our work is made.
An Evolving Approach
This statement is an expression of our creative thinking and working practices, not a legal document.
Both this statement and the projects it describes may evolve as technology, laws and regulations, platform policies, and our own creative understanding develop. When our approach changes, we intend to update this page to reflect it.
